Water Conservation

The other key element of the Water District’s beneficial reuse plan is to use the clean-recycled water productively to benefit both the Belterra community and our neighbors.

The Water District proposes reusing clean-recycled water to irrigate more than 100 acres of parks and trails in the Belterra community.

By reusing the clean-recycled water for irrigation, the citizens of Belterra will be part of a conservation effort that will preserve 120 million gallons of precious groundwater each year.

That precious groundwater is the source of drinking water for people throughout the Texas Hill Country and also replenishes the aquifer.

The plan will save Water District ratepayers money, as the community reduces its overall need for groundwater.

The Water District’s responsible reuse plan is modeled after successful and safe reuse projects in other parts of the country. Given this region’s propensity for drought conditions, it is this type of innovative and conservation-focused management that will protect our natural resources for generations to come.
